I recently purchased the Stihl FS45 for a moderate sized residential yard. I was impressed with the easy starting, great idle, and throttle response of the unit. It is a great unit for under $150. The dual strings last much longer than my previous string trimmer, I can usually do the whole area without advancing. It cannot accomodate steel blades, but it is meant for lighter duty applications, Stihl has many more beefier units for such work.
The FS-45 is fairly light and has great ergonomics. The balance is very good and it is not a pain to lug around unlike my older Craftsman. The string changes are easy due to the head design, clips prevent a string tussle during installation. Impressive power for such a small unit. The on/off on the handle is a nice touch, and makes it easy to turn off if a conversation is needed. The ez-start option is probably not needed unless you have serious shoulder issues.
My older unit did not have a see-through gas tank which made it a hassle to see what was left in the tank. The unit runs well at any angle, a trait my Craftsman lacked. Oh, and a great color scheme; creamsicle. Highly recommend for less than an acre and a half.
